When we received the trees we were very excited and anxious to plant, but instead of going straight out and planting we took a couple days to think about the layout of the land and how we wanted things to be in the future.
Daniel, the one helping me, actually walked around the whole land and measured it for me. Then I drew a sketch to scale to see an overview. My brain works better when it can see the 'big' picture.
Below is a sketch of some of my thoughts.
I had to modify it slightly to make it work with the blog. The orange block is proposed space to build houses and the yellow is for the Sonshine compound with all the surrounding white to be used for income generating projects. The land is approximately 1000 meters wide and 370 meters deep so it is quite large. There are so many possibilities but these are just some of the thoughts at present.
We planted the pine mostly marking the corner edge of the housing area ( leaving room for future roads). The moringa have potential to make money so we opted to plant them mostly along the edge of the Sonshine compound (also leaving space for roads and a possible wall fence).
